This is Warrior's 64th (!) German head release.  This continues the trend of releases head sets from the latest figures under the VLS banner.

For less than ten US dollars, one receives six heads in a plastic bag with a cardboard header.

The heads are beautifully reproduced without any pits, bubbles, pin marks or excess resin.  They are attached by the top of the helmet.

This particular release includes six older soldiers wearing helmets with camouflage covers.  The expressions are gaunt and quite fitting for a mid war scenario where combat weary soldiers are to be used.  For later war scenes, I would tend to use this set as NCOs for younger looking figures.

After a wash with a toothbrush and grease cutting dish detergent, I set the heads aside to air dry.

Being that they are heads with helmets attached, I do not use the gray primer but paint a flesh tone base coat using acrylics.

Since the heads were originally intended for VLS produced figures, a slightly different approach than that used for Hornet heads must be taken.

The plastic figure gets the neck area drilled out.  A small pin is inserted into the resin head and a corresponding hole in the plastic torso.  This will allow the modeler to attach the head and gauge whether to cut the neck down, modify it for a more natural pose, or elevate it.

After choosing a pose and making the required cutting and sanding, I place a small ball of epoxy putty at the base of the neck and press the head.  While the putty is wet, I can then cut off any excess and begin smoothing the joints with a moistened brush.  Sometimes a toothpick is needed to help shape neck sinews, etc.

When dry, I can then proceed to painting.

This head set is definitely welcomed as they are an affordable way to elevate the quality of today's plastic figures while making them unique.
