Tasca, of Japan, recently released this accessory kit of WW2 German AFV parts in 1/35th scale. They are intended to replace their counter-parts on older kits. Included are two identical sprues containing the following items:

  1. Notek lamps (×2) are included along with two types of bases. The bases are for horizontal mounting, such as on the Pz.4 and an inclined mount, such as on the fender of a Kfz.1500. The lamp itself is well-detailed with an accurately depicted bottom.
  2. Two types of head lights are included (×2 each). One is a typical lamp with the cover attached while the other is moulded with details visible with the cover omitted. The cover for the first lamp is moulded separately. There are no clear styrene parts for the lenses however. There are bases included, one for each lamp and one depicting the protective cap in place instead of the lamp. The bases have excellent details.
  3. Four distance indicators are included (×2 each). Each depicts a different configuration. There is excellent and accurate details on each including the mounting braces on the back of two of them.
  4. A pair of mid-war smoke discharger units (×2) are included. These include the base and both empty and armed launcher tubes. These parts are well detailed although a little on the thick side (but not by much). They will need the firing cables adding.
  5. Tamiya Tiger I turret spare track-link holders, bottom. Eight in total are supplied for the Tamiya kit, which has none.
  6. Hot food containers (×2), this is a five-part assembly. It depicts an insulated hot food container. The handles are integrally moulded and could be cut-off and replaced with wire ones.

Moulding is quite good and accuracy outstanding. As can be seen with the Notek lights in particular. Also included is a painting guide for the lights, which is very useful. It will be useful to modellers with the Tamiya Tigers in particular as these kits lack the bottom spare track holders. The lights and reflectors will be useful in upgrading other older German armour kits.

Recommended to German armour modellers who wish to upgrade older kits.
