Voyager Models is expanding their line of resin accessories and this set looks at replacement road wheels for the T-34-76 tank. This specific set was designed to offer the ability to show damaged road wheels as was seen on many tanks.
Inside a re-usable blister package, we find two © Ziploc bags with five resin wheels each. A folded sheet serves as both a cover and instructions on how to assemble the wheel halves.
The resin parts are very well molded with a thin attachment to the casting sprue. They are divided into five outer wheel halves and matching set of inner halves. No bubbles, blobs, or pinholes were found.
The set is let down by the instructions. Voyager Models has removed the ribber tire portion from the Dragon parts and added the hubcap. Six ridges have been added.
Using Frontline Illustrated and Militaria's books as references, the wheel could be any of the solid disk types produced from 1940 on with ten fastening bolts and a stiffening ring held on with six bolts. The ridges do match the cutaway drawing found in the books.
With five complete wheels, one side of a tank can be shown with the wheels damaged. Those modelers who are more conservative can spread out the wheels onto various projects thereby increasing the value of this set. My thanks to Voyager Models for the sample set.
