A 1997 release, this is one of the finest 1/35th figures I've seen from this (or any) company. This German Army panzer trooper stands in a relaxed pose: one hand in his pants pocket, the other holding his tunic. He wears the reed-green (can always be painted Mouse Gray, if you wish) denim second pattern jacket, with the accompanying thigh-pocketed pants. An M-43 cap tops it off. While this was apparently not a rare uniform, figure manufacturers do not frequently choose it as a subject.
This lil' guy is cast as a single piece, using a gray resin. The detail is amazingly crisp and delicate. One must take care not to use paint that is too thick, as it could obscure some of the finer detail. There was a tiny bit of flash and some light mold seams, but they're easily cleaned. If you see this on the shelf, take note that the figure's face is sculpted better than shown on the box photo. The build-up almost makes it appear that the figure has a double chin. I see no evidence of this on the actual figure. In fact, the face is a masterpiece of subtle expression.
As with all Wolf figures (and notably absent from many other figure producers) is an instruction sheet. Unfortunately it doesn't give specific painting details, like some of Wolf's other (nifty and unusal) offerings. At $12, I'd say he's a good deal, as that's a pretty standard price for such figures - and you get that instruction sheet! He's definitely one of the best-crafted aftermarket panzer guys I've run across. My only gripe (and this is VERY minor) is that I would have liked to have had the head as a separate piece. But that's splitting hairs.
This dapper chap evokes a myriad of applications, such as hanging out with his panzer buds atop a Panther G on an early Fall day. If you pick up one of these, I'm sure the possibilities will suggest themselves.
