This is the famous/infamous Tamiya Panzer II kit. I first got back into the hobby building one of these. The kit comes with a Panzer II ausf. F/G with 1 commander and 4 Afrika Corp figures, probably intended as a toy for more mature kids.

The figures are horrible, misshapen mutants and should be tossed into the spares box as soon as possible.

The tank itself is a re-release of an earlier motorized kit, and as expected in early Tamiya releases, have motorization holes to fill up. Similarly, there are huge gaps above the sponsons that needs to be fixed with sheet styrene. Most of the tool boxes are molded on, and have substandard molded on details. The tracks are obsolete with no details on the inside and could be replaced with aftermarket sets.

Other than these flaws, this is a pretty fun kit to build. Construction is very simple if built right out of the box and it builds into a fairly decent representation of a Panzer II. Painting is likewise fairly easy, kudos to Tamiya for including a guide on painting simple variations to the standard desert camoflague.

Although obsolete by modern standards, this kit probably deserves credit for bringing in many new-comers to this hobby. Highly recommended for less experienced modellers.
