This pair of tankers is depicted standing, each one holding a round of ammo (not in the kit). They look to be waiting on the guy actually stowing ammo on board the vehicle. Both figures are wearing windbreakers, boots, tanker-helmets with goggles, and one is bare handed, the other wearing gloves. The poses are a little stiff, which was a dissappointment on opening the box!
First, discard the heads! They are expressionless drones, and I slapped a Hornet head on each figure. My initial unhappiness with the figures disappeared once I fitted the Hornet heads. The figures came to life. Now they actually look like two guys waiting to heft ammo into the turret!
The figures are not too tall. I used my scale ruler, and both come out less than six feet tall. Yes, they're not the 5'7" or so of a mid 20th Century soldier, but they're not giants either (unlike some other Verlinden figures I have). Each figure comprises two arms, head, torso, lower body with legs attached, and two feet. Once assembled, the body looks a little long on one of the figures, but I think the round of ammo will hide that a bit (I hope). The sculpting is not up to Ultracast/Wolf/Yoshi standards, but with some judicious shading and highlighting the figures look nice. They are perfect additions for the dio I have in progress, and with some finer sculpting and better poses these would be must have figures. The recent Custom Dioramics release of US tankers loading Ammo is nicer, but I'd recommend these fellas if you can get them cheap, and if you have some spare heads to use!
