Reviews - Reviewing Samples from Vendors

Guidelines For Track-Link Users

Track-Link members are free to contribute reviews of products received as samples from manufacturers, importers and vendors provided:

1. The review is written in accordance with Track-Link review guidelines.
2. The review states who supplied the item.
3. The reviewer does not receive payment for the review.
4. The reviewer limits the number of sample items he or she reviews to reasonable levels. As a guideline during any 12 months period, a reviewer should limit reviews of sample vehicle and artillery kits to 4 items of which up to two may be major new releases. For other items the guideline is a maximum retail value of $100 (CND).

Guidelines For Manufacturers & Vendors

Manufacturers, importers and vendors who wish to have items reviewed on Track-Link are requested to contact the Review Administors. The Team will assign each item accepted to a modeller. The committee will refer the manufacturer to a modeller(s) knowledgeable on the item's genre and experienced in writing reviews. Whenever possible these reviewers will be selected by rotation to ensure fairness and impartiality.

The procedure for when manufacturers (importers and vendors) wish an item to be reviewed on Track-Link is:

1. The manufacturer contacts the Review Administors, and offers the item(s) for review.
2. The Committee supplies the manufacturer the name(s) and address(es) of an experienced reviewer(s), knowledgeable of the kit's subject area.
3. The manufacturer sends the item(s) post paid directly to the reviewer(s).
4. The reviewer(s) evaluates the item(s) according to Track-Link's Review Guidelines.
5. The review(s) is published on Track-Link.

For vehicle and towed artillery kits, the reviewer will make his or her best efforts to either write a First Look (In the Box) review within two weeks or write a construction review within approximately one month of receiving the kit.

All other items will have a First Look review published on Track-Link within approximately 14 days of the reviewer receiving the item.

In order to ensure independence in reviews, Track-Link does not accept reviews written by manufacturers, importers, or on-line vendors.
